WELCOME TO THE NEW HOME OF "EATING WITH S.O.L.E"

I am migrating my years of Seasonal Organic Local Ethical (SOLE) recipes from "eatingwithSOLE" to this cozy new home here at Tricycle Acres (our homestead namesake). Please be patient with me as the process of moving old recipes is slower than hoped.

The good news is I am inspired to continue sharing recipes after a very busy year away! Thanks for sticking around!

I'm really hoping you will all enjoy this new format, and all the new search functionality! All of my old recipes will still be available at eatingwithsole  until I get them migrated into recipe form here!

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MY RECIPES

Whole Foods

For over a decade I have been an organic food advocate with a kitchen free of refined and processed foods. I feed my family real food, grown in our garden + our community. My dedication to real food can make me a pretty poor restaurant companion most of the time.

Allergy Friendly

For ethical reasons there is lots I do not eat. My intolerance to wheat and dairy means I eat a mostly plant based diet following paleo-ish principles. You'll find older recipes that reflect my path to get here, some cheese-y some wheat-y, all wholesome.

Seasonal Influence

My foodshed defines my cooking style. I rarely eat things like mangoes (although admittedly I have a serious addiction to coffee and coconut products). I eat what is flush in the fields around me and I put up the excess to be enjoyed year round.

Garbage "Food"

You will not find my recipes calling for pre-bottled processed "foods", starchy fillers or refined corn products. GMO is a 4 letter word in our house, so It should go without saying I eat beyond organic always and NEVER eat meat that comes from a factory.

pickled caulifower

A growing favorite in our family is pickled cauliflower! It is so versatile as an addition to meals and snacks! I have used it in the winter in salads, samosa filling, and in salad rolls. Pickling cauliflower is no different than any other pickled veggie, aside from beets. Sterilize jars, lids and rings in boiling […]

3 bean salad 3 ways

My sweetie loves that deli counter style of 3 bean salad, and I am keen to see him grabbing healthy homemade easy lunch options, so this year I planted a bunch of green beans with the intent of making him some canned bean salad. Swamped with beans these past weeks I have busted out 3 […]

berry yogurt cheesecake with [gf] granola crust

Want the divine decadence of cheesecake without all the heaviness and extra fluff? This recipe is a total spin on traditional cheesecake, that draws on whole + fresh seasonal ingredients, the resulting mini cheesecakes are like fluffy cheesy pillows of fruit crisp-ness. So forget the gelatin, condensed sweetened milk, icing sugar and corn syrup of […]

I'M SHAUNA

TRICYCLE ACRE'S RESIDENT FOODIE

What can I say? I love Food! I love growing it, harvesting it, preparing it, processing it, and sharing it. One of my favorite things about food is sharing knowledge and skills, inspiring people to eat closer to home all year long.

Professionally I work with food as a consultant to food industry and as a graphic designer. I specialize in branding, packaging and promoting food start up’s and existing small business. I love making small business shine especially those in the natural food category. I have over a decade of experience running two of my own successful bakeries. These days I also do a lot of work around food security; producing, promoting and facilitating events that enrich the local food economy and educate consumers about real food.
