I will be teaching an introduction to hot water bath canning at the WE Graham Community Services Society, come on out as we process the bounty from the food bank garden in Slocan into delicious preserves for the winter. The garden is flush with green tomatoes and we’ll be making some traditional french Canadian green tomato ketchup, using Stephanie’s an old family recipe. We will also make a batch of ground cherry jam. Participants will learn basic canning skills and the science behind safe canning, Everyone will leave with a couple jars of preserves and we will stock the food bank shelves with extras!
The program is offered through CBAL (Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy) Inter-generational Cooking Class, visit the website for info and registration. http://www.cbal.org/slocan-valley.html
